Painting again after 30 years

This is a video I have created for my website to act as a introduction or small insight into my hobby of painting.
After nearly 30 years away from the art studio, I'm back at it again. In this video, I share some of my work and touch on how my day job helped me become a better artist.

I've been a software developer for the last 30 years. Like many of us, I was drawn to the field because I wanted to solve problems.

And it's true—I have spent much of my career solving problems by writing code. But recently, I've come to realize that being a software developer has also helped me become a better artist.

Specifically, the way that software development requires you to think about how things work has given me new insights into what makes art work.

When you're writing code, it's easy to get stuck in your own head and forget about how your users will interact with what you're creating. It's easy for technical details like spacing or color choices to distract from the real point: communicating ideas in ways people can understand and use.

I hope you enjoy this little insight into what makes me tick as much as I enjoyed making it
